251. White Lies – Getting Even

From the fantastic “Big TV” album released in 2013, “Getting Even” is a gloriously jangly number, taking a healthy dose of 80s influence mixed with a soaring chorus. A pained love song (it kind of sounds like a girlfriend getting angry after having a dream you’ve cheated on her – we’ve all been there…), it’s sadly an underrated album from the Ealing band – only 12k sales so far is criminal.
219. White Lies – There Goes Our Love Again

A strong return to form for the stylish White Lies, luxuriating in influences from the likes of Joy Division and The Smiths. “There Goes Our Love Again” is a jangly post punk number, galloping through in that indomitable way that a British band can only seem to do.
The single is forthcoming on their new album “Big TV”, out 12th August. Whilst previous album “Ritual” didn’t quite reach the heady heights of first offering “To Lose My Life”, early sounds have been promising from the well loved London trio.
