Some gorgeous downtempo chilled else from the masters, Zero 7. Heavy bluesy rhodes, lilting beats and a deeply emotive vocal all add up to their traditional emo-euphoric greatness.
183. Huxley – Box Clever

With a healthy nod of respect to the clearly influential MJ Cole (MJ used to call his own series by the same name), “Box Clever” is a bubbling uplifter, square bass juddering along under a crescendo of pianos. Huxley has carved himself a successful career in the middle of that house and garage space, utilising a futuristic sound that has clearly resonated – worldwide touring and a strong release schedule across labels like Hypercolour and 20:20 hints at a strong future for the young man from Hertfordshire.
152. Brand New Heavies – Apparently Nothing

Artful Dodger at the peak of their remixing powers released this absolutely beauty back in 1999. Ranking as one of their finest, the lilting rhodes drive thru the casually meandering 2 step beat but if it’s summer time garage grooves you’re looking for, this hits the spot.
142. Daft Punk – Giorgio By Moroder

The excitement around this new Daft Punk album was virtually guaranteed to be a let down; but since the dust has settled, and the fullness of the album has been appreciated, you can spot a couple of gems. I love this track, partly for the history lesson from the disco legend but also for that chunky synth pumping throughout, showered with a mournful Rhodes. Well worth a listen for the whole album and set to be the biggest selling of the year so far.
